These NARI Members Have Certified Renovators to Work in Homes Built Prior to 1978
As of April 22, 2010 all remodeling and repair work done for compensation to housing built prior to 1978 must be done in compliance with the new Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Regulations. Contractors doing this work must have their employees and their businesses ready to operate under these new rules or risk fines up to $32,500.00 per individual violation.
All residential contractors from all trades are subject to these rules and potential fines and liabilities for disturbing lead paint in older homes. Note: this also includes landlords working on their own properties.
New business responsibilities under these regulations include certification training, business registration, documentation of a variety of activities, education and supervision of works, education and notification of homeowners and occupants to name just a few.
